Recently, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon visited Indiana to announce the approval of our waiver. This will allow Hoosier educators to consolidate federal funding streams, reduce the amount of required paperwork and align Indiana&#8217;s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.des05.com\/t\/49814643\/1676493225\/108880775\/0\/60330\/?x=9ccde842\">new A-F accountability model<\/a>\u00a0with federal regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">House Republicans have been focused on making high school more relevant for students who aren&#8217;t planning to attend college but still need training and experience to find good jobs. In 2023 we passed a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.des05.com\/t\/49814643\/1676493225\/96581729\/0\/60330\/?x=2ecd3a15\">law<\/a>&nbsp;establishing&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.des05.com\/t\/49814643\/1676493225\/106926365\/0\/60330\/?x=a4708b8a\">new high school diploma options<\/a>&nbsp;to give students more flexibility in their education, including the ability to participate in work-based learning opportunities.\ufeff<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We&#8217;ve also made it a priority to reduce our own K-12 education regulations so schools have more control over local decisions. In 2025 the General Assembly passed a law decreasing Indiana&#8217;s education regulations by thousands of words.
