Backed by more than $15 million in investments from the leading<br>provider of access to rural care, the hospital has strengthened healthcare services across Cass<br>County and the surrounding area.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parkview Logansport Hospital is an 83-bed, full-service hospital, continuing the facility\u2019s century<br>long history of serving the Cass County region. Cass County\u2019s population is approximately<br>38,000. About 750 co-workers, physicians and advanced practice providers joined Parkview<br>during the transition.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cHealthcare is usually concentrated in metropolitan areas, and patients who can\u2019t make the<br>drive to those cities are often the ones who need it most. By partnering with Parkview, we\u2019re<br>able to make Parkview Logansport Hospital a place where you can access the medical care you<br>need,\u201d said Tara McVay, president of Parkview Logansport Hospital. \u201cThe safety and technology<br>improvements we\u2019ve made this past year are just the beginning of our long-term plan to elevate<br>regional care.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026, Parkview Logansport demonstrated a significant impact<br>across the region, with:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25cf 1,069 inpatient discharges (excluding newborns)<br>\u25cf 84,727 outpatients served<br>\u25cf 519 babies delivered<br>\u25cf 118,529 clinic encounters<br>\u25cf 18,845 emergency room visits<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Within this first year, the hospital also improved its quality metrics, with more improvement<br>expected as the impact of the investments continues. In May 2026, the hospital earned a 4-star<br>rating in the HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems).<br>Parkview is committed to continuous safety improvements through additional upgrades and the<br>implementation of the Epic electronic health record system.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With the support of Parkview Health, the hospital has also taken steps to relieve financial<br>pressure and stabilize finances. Cass County has been reimbursed for its $3 million loan to the<br>former Logansport Memorial Hospital, appropriated in 2024, and all outstanding Hospital<br>Assessment Fees have been paid to the State of Indiana.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Also during year one, more than $15 million in capital investments were injected into the<br>hospital to quickly drive advancements in quality and technology, such as a new phone system<br>and clinical workstations. Additional upgrades and improvements include:<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u25cf Diagnostic and surgical enhancements: The addition of a new $2.5 million spinal<br>table for the operating room, in conjunction with advanced laparoscopes and<br>arthroscopes in the amount of $814,000.<br>\u25cf Safety frameworks: Improved structure, function and reporting of the safety and quality<br>departments to earn \u201cAchieved Standard\u201d for National Quality Forum (NQF) Safe<br>Practice #1 for Culture of Safety Leadership Structures and Systems. Enhanced<br>hospital-wide accountability, awareness and action to earn \u201cAchieved Standard\u201d for NQF<br>Safe Practice #2 for Culture Measurement, Feedback and Intervention.<br>\u25cf Commitment to excellence: During the first quarter of the partnership, 592 co-workers<br>completed a Service Excellence workshop to strengthen the hospital\u2019s culture of<br>excellence.<br>\u25cf Workforce development: Co-workers have completed 74 hours of professional<br>development, alongside 300 hours of initial leader education upon hire.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The progress achieved in the first year reflects the strength of combining local expertise with<br>the resources of an integrated health system,&#8221; said Dr. Ray Dusman, president of physician and<br>clinical enterprise, Parkview Health. &#8220;Through investments in technology, safety, clinical quality<br>and workforce development, we&#8217;re creating greater access to advanced care and laying the<br>foundation for even stronger patient outcomes \u2013 and a healthier community \u2013 in the years<br>ahead.&#8221;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parkview operates 10 rural community hospitals, from Logansport to LaGrange in Indiana over<br>to Bryan, Ohio, maintaining more than 370 total inpatient beds in places where access is<br>otherwise eroding. It is the largest rural healthcare provider in Indiana based on number of rural<br>hospitals and population served. Through continued investments in technology, physicians and<br>clinical services, the health system is transforming rural hospitals into destinations for high<br>quality care, reducing the need for patients to travel outside their communities.<br><br>Parkview Health is a nonprofit, community-focused health system serving Indiana and northwest<br>Ohio with a mission to improve health and inspire well-being. Based in Fort Wayne, Parkview is<br>northeast Indiana&#8217;s largest employer with approximately 17,500 co-workers.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Parkview Health includes 15 hospitals and an extensive network of primary care and specialty<br>care physicians.
