He was born in Gas City, Indiana, on Saturday, July 3, 1937, to Thomas &#8220;Marshall&#8221; and Ethel (Benbow) Morris. He married Norma E. Jones, who survives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Richard graduated from Mississinewa High School and had served in the Indiana National Guard for eight years. Richard loved fishing, and being on the water with his sons and extended family. He always looked forward to his annual trips to Lake Michigan. Richard loved nothing more than spending all night on his pontoon boat at the reservoir catching catfish. He was also an avid bowler, and had bowled in several leagues with his sons. He liked tinkering around in his garage, woodworking with Norma, and eating at Jackie&#8217;s Restaurant. More than anything though, Richard was dedicated to his family as a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was extremely proud of his sons and the Morris name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to his loving wife of 68 years, Norma, survivors include his sons, Tracy (Late Tarinna) Morris of Eaton and Rick (Jennie) Morris of Upland; granddaughters, Meghan (Joe) Deckman, Holly (Robert) Melby, Taylor (Jon Folson) Morris, Bailey (Joey Dearey) Morris and Brenna Wiggins; grandsons, Tyler Morris, Jesse (Adriana) Shinn and Jared (Darci Robertson) Morris; great-grandchildren, Aurora (Collin Aber) Ledbetter, Cameron Deckman, Dae Deckman, Ellis Deckman, Davin Morris, Khloe Morris, Quinn Morris, Jase Morris, Ryder (Mak Brainerd) Bowlin, Avery White, Everley White, Teagan Morris, Max Melby, Rowan Melby, Jordan Shinn, Sebastian Shinn, Annabelle Shinn, Eleanor Shinn, Beatrice Shinn and Dion Dearey; sister, Marsha (Jerry) White; special nephew, Scott (Jennifer) Morris; plus several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas &#8220;Marshall&#8221; Morris; mother, Ethel D. Morris; son, Mark Morris; brothers, Harold Morris and Jerry Morris; and sisters, Helen Stevens, Ruth Cook, Jackie Russell, Marianne Briles and Cathy Morris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral &amp; Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Immediately following the time of visitation, a Funeral Service to celebrate Richard&#8217;s life will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating.
