She was born on October 28, 1934, in Wabash, to Wesley &#8220;Wayne&#8221; and Gertrude (Dally) Smyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nancy Ogan lived a life marked by dedication, kindness, and service to others. A 1953 graduate of Wabash High School, she married Dorwin Eugene \u201cJohn\u201d Ogan on October 24, 1953, in Wabash. Their marriage was a partnership of nearly five decades until John\u2019s passing on August 11, 2001.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nancy began her working years at Danners before finding her calling as a nurse\u2019s aide at the Wabash County Hospital. For 18 years, she cared for patients with compassion and steadiness, retiring in 1985. She and John briefly made their home in Ocala, Florida, in the late 1980s before returning to Wabash, where Nancy continued to work at K\u2011Mart, Wal\u2011Mart, and she also operated her own ceramic shop, Hill Top Ceramics, for 15 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faith and fellowship were central to Nancy\u2019s life. She was a devoted member of Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, serving seven years in the Library Ministry and three years in the Card Ministry, where she lovingly sent birthday cards to senior citizens. She was also a member of the Busy Bees Home Economics Club. Nancy and her daughter Paula, started a greeting card club that met monthly, where several ladies would share ideas and techniques in crafting handmade greeting cards. She also enjoyed rubber stamping, and camping with her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nancy is survived by her daughters, Pamela (Daniel Sr.) Shively and Paula Ogan, both of Wabash; grandchildren Danny Shively, Jr. of Wabash, Stacy (Nate) Prater of Warsaw, Scott Morris of Wabash, Andrew Tharp of Butler, and Jaime Zimmerman of Richmond, Kentucky; 12 great\u2011grandchildren; and former sons\u2011in\u2011law Dieter Schneider and James Tharp, both of Wabash. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dorwin \u201cJohn\u201d Ogan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nancy will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her creativity, her devotion to her church, and her unwavering love for her family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There will be a Celebration of Nancy&#8217;s life at 3:00 pm Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Linda Mirante officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash.
